Ludum Dare 56

I completed another game jam with Team Terrible! The theme was "Tiny Creatures" so we created a zen village builder with of course... tiny creatures! Unfortunately, we didn't complete the game in time so it's unfinished but we still had so much fun making it!


Critical Mass is about growing a little village next to a temple and when you reach population targets you call a mass, everyone goes to the temple and you get rewarded with new technologies! When you reach the final (critical) mass, the floor of the temple opens up revealing a sarlacc pit of teeth and all your people are eaten by an eldritch abomination!

Design

Wood to build houses

Berries to breed

Adding decorative items for player to use during downtime


Buildings

All builds will collect their input and leave their output as a “pile” outside

Berries → Creatures

  • Assign closest idle creature

  • Release all creatures

🪵 Woodcutter [max2]

Cuts trees → Logs

  • Assign closest idle creature

  • Release creature (drops resources and teleports)

🍓 Gatherer [max2] (T1)

Collects berries → Berries

  • Assign closest idle creature

  • Release creature (drops resources and teleports)
